Star Wars gets a tv series. Here's hoping Lucas isn't one of the writers because... well.. just 'cos (hat tip [livejournal.com profile] betnoir) :P

And why spend 100 episodes on a young Luke Skywalker bullseyeing womprats on Tattoine? How Han Solo got to be Han Solo would be a much more exciting story!

Because the cynic in me isn't thinking for *one moment* that Lucas peered over the fence at how Firefly got resurrected as a movie and wants to cash in on that. Oh no, not for one moment...

OTOH, there's been buzz of Nathan Fillion replacing Harrison Ford as Indy.

For Fillion's sake, I actually hope that doesn't come to pass, although he'd do a bang-up job with it.

:P Of COURSE he thought it - Lucas can't write dialog to save his life, but he's not stupid.

I think it would be a fair warning to most actors - don't ever put yourself in a situation where Lucas will potentially direct you/write your lines. However, if we could get an Indy with Fillion where Lucas does art direction and Whedon does script/direction, it could be quite promising!

It makes me itch in funny places to have to agree that Lucas can't write dialog for shite, because the original Star Wars really was a landmark event for me that propelled me into fandom (my grumpiness at 'TrueFans' who refuse to acknowledge media as a legitimate SF form is something else entirely).

Lucas kinda fell off a cliff after the first two movies, IMO.

Oh, same situation here - The original Star Wars looms large in my childhood memories. Getting my parents to take me to see Empire in the theater twice was the be all, end all of the summer after 1st grade.

But yes, the mighty have fallen, and it's ok to come out of the closet about it!!

Don't get me wrong - I am all about NekkidMal.

But I'd be afraid having him take on such an iconic role as Indy would invariably lead to unfair comparison between him and Ford.

Which would ultimately be an injustice to Fillion.

I don't disagree, I'm just "having a moment" as they say ;)
