Also for a lark took the quiz at Find Your Spot - the results are telling, I guess, especially as where I actually live falls near the bottom of recommended cities! My #1 "spot" is Honolulu, ironic since it was just this week I was talking to D. about how it must be hard to be out in the middle of nowhere like that :P I think I could appreciate some of the California sites though. Pity it only includes the U.S. though, because despite my sheltered life I'm sure I could learn to live in the right foreign city ;)

I do recognize the ease and value of staying in one place, and after helping [livejournal.com profile] geekchick move yesterday, I am reminded of the stress and sheer inconvenience of having to pack up and move your small corner of the world, even if it's just a short distance - I've never done it, but moving across the country must be a unique form of hell :/

Still, sometimes I do wonder what it would be like to wander... Hmm..

[livejournal.com profile] fuse_sat is thinking of joining the SCA - I guess the cold of near earth orbit leaves it yearning for company. Won't y'all please help it out? (From [livejournal.com profile] wcg - good one!)

Today, the first day of spring: cold, extremely windy, temperature falling all day. Still, the trees have a mist of green and the sky was very clear. Spring is trying to happen despite every effort to kill it off.

It's been a busy, action-packed weekend. Yesterday I helped [livejournal.com profile] geekchick move into her new place. C., [livejournal.com profile] curiousangel and [livejournal.com profile] brian1789 (Edit: this was my first time meeting Brian - cool guy, but wish we'd had a chance to talk more!) did most of the heavy lifting, including manipulating a very stubborn sofa down a narrow, twisty flight of stairs. Much progress was made, and much appetite was worked up! Her new place is very nice and has lots of room, but I'll let her tell y'all about that :)

Today I made it out to my last historic fencing practice until I get back from Atlanta. I got there late and didn't manage to do any rapier, but did get some saber drills in. For the first time I did something close to bouting, with lots of parry-riposte (defense is more important than attack). The target areas are taking some getting used to - I keep forgetting that the arms are a valid target, but I'm disturbingly comfortable making cuts to the head (whap! smack! slash!) ;)

I think I am done sewing. I'm taking some of the leftover rhinestone trim with me to Atlanta in case I change my mind, but there comes a point where you have to decide it's finished. This week will be devoted to packing everything so I won't forget/lose it, and making a list so I can get it all home.

I am also very determined to get some proper writing done - [livejournal.com profile] hadesgirl, I'm around halfway done with my first draft; hopefully it will be in your email box tomorrow.
