Today, the first day of spring: cold, extremely windy, temperature falling all day. Still, the trees have a mist of green and the sky was very clear. Spring is trying to happen despite every effort to kill it off.
It's been a busy, action-packed weekend. Yesterday I helped
geekchick move into her new place. C.,
curiousangel and
brian1789 (Edit: this was my first time meeting Brian - cool guy, but wish we'd had a chance to talk more!) did most of the heavy lifting, including manipulating a very stubborn sofa down a narrow, twisty flight of stairs. Much progress was made, and much appetite was worked up! Her new place is very nice and has lots of room, but I'll let her tell y'all about that :)
Today I made it out to my last historic fencing practice until I get back from Atlanta. I got there late and didn't manage to do any rapier, but did get some saber drills in. For the first time I did something close to bouting, with lots of parry-riposte (defense is more important than attack). The target areas are taking some getting used to - I keep forgetting that the arms are a valid target, but I'm disturbingly comfortable making cuts to the head (whap! smack! slash!) ;)
I think I am done sewing. I'm taking some of the leftover rhinestone trim with me to Atlanta in case I change my mind, but there comes a point where you have to decide it's finished. This week will be devoted to packing everything so I won't forget/lose it, and making a list so I can get it all home.
I am also very determined to get some proper writing done -
hadesgirl, I'm around halfway done with my first draft; hopefully it will be in your email box tomorrow.
