what to/not to wear
Jan. 8th, 2009 08:06 pmBeen editing and thinking about my wardrobe a lot of late. I'm getting rid of a lot of things that are the wrong size, fit, or are just plain worn out and am making a conscious effort to replace them with quality pieces and not just any old rubbish that keeps me covered. That, and new social situations (posher parties, weddings, etc.) means I need things I didn't think about before.

What about you? What are your wardrobe do's, don'ts, don't do enough of, wannas?
Stuff I won't wear at any cost:
- Orange - makes me look jaundiced
- Pastels - make me look washed out
- Turtlenecks - short waist + full bust = I look like my tits grow out of my waist :P
- Halter tops, spaghetti straps, strapless, or the like - see: full bust
Stuff I do wear and perhaps shouldn't, or at least not as often:
- Extremely worn out things (I have a pair of pajama bottoms that are starting to rip at the drawstring, but I can't let 'em go)
- Shapeless sweaters (but hey, it's winter!)
- The same pair of sweatpants over and over
Stuff I rarely wear but have just in case:
- Hose, nude and black
- Tights, black
- Black dresses in summer and winter weights
- Plain heels
- Body shaping/girdle thing (yes, I'm getting a bit soft 'round the middle)
Stuff I really ought to wear more often:
- Weird shoes
- Tailored jackets
- Tux shirts (inexplicably, I have 3)
- Skirts with boots
Stuff I need:
- Another pair of jeans
- Black and grey pants (on order; I'll see if they're keepers when they get here)
- A pair of dark street sneakers that support my arches
Stuff that's mostly out of reach:
- More Issey Miyake
- More Vivienne Westwood, especially the rocking horse boots, though affordable knockoffs may render this one reachable
What about you? What are your wardrobe do's, don'ts, don't do enough of, wannas?
