plans for the new year
Apr. 15th, 2008 09:12 pmA bit late for New Year's resolutions, but yesterday was my birthday (thanks all y'all for your well-wishes!) and 35 seems a nice round (well, divisible by 5) number to re-evaluate and put some goals down:
- cherish those near and dear
- be more mindful and open to experience and learning (I've got the humility thing down, now it's time to acknowledge that I'd learn more if I'm paying attention)
- try new things (even if it's just getting something different off the menu)
- remember that "the perfect is the enemy of the good" and sometimes risking a mistake is better than inertia
- continue discovering what makes me me, because I still feel like a reflection of everything/everyone around me

Date: 2008-04-16 11:37 pm (UTC)I sometimes find it strange that I talk to so many women who don't/didn't feel like they really started "getting it together" until their 30s - it's refreshing to know I'm not the only one!
For a long time I felt bad about myself because I was "supposed" to have figured it all out by the time I was 25 or so. I think I finally started to mature when I let go of the idea that there's an age at which I'm supposed to be "finished".
