Showing someone your true feelings is a lot like showing them your ass. While it's certainly appropriate to show it to some people (and being absolutely unwilling to show it ever indicates some kind of trauma,) most don't want to see that, and most of those that do will not use it well.

Well considered. It's crudely put but that crudeness makes it memorable, it also makes it usable. My officemates don't care to see my emotions. They also don't care to see my ass. I can remember to not show my ass at the office. Good analogy, if you'll pardon the pun.

This is one I've had to learn the very hard way - not so much with office mates as with friends. Not all friendships are appropriate for ass deep feeling sharing either.

How you I add my name to the "appropriate for ass" list? Will I need references?

Thank you for your interest, but alas, my ass is off-limits to all gentleman-type folk sans [livejournal.com profile] dotheranon :P

As for my true feelings? Might take years, if at all. Too early to tell.
