Messing with this stuff has highlighted the possible mummification/binding possibilities :P It's not my particular cup of tea to wrap or be wrapped, but there it is.

This Friday I'm going to go to a women's party at this venue affiliated with this event (neither site worksafe). It's my first time to this club for a (semi?) public event but strangely I am not nervous - I know I'll be in good company.

I'm planning on carpooling as I'm nervous about the possiblity of getting lost because the club isn't in the greatest neighborhood.

This is the first time I've been to a club in... I dunno, a couple of years (do the nearly empty goth nights in Philly a couple of years back count?) so I suppose I should think of something "special" to wear. I'm thinking Farscape duster and New Rocks, if the weather permits.

Anyone else going to be there?

Ooooh, and I remember being fortunate enough to actually try that wonderful duster on! It's still my favorite of all the things you've made!

Thank you!

And I realize with astonishment that the thing has lasted almost 4 years! Vinyl isn't usually that sturdy!

Yow - it WAS in 2003, wasn't it! Gosh, that seems like so long ago... seems like we've all been friends for a lot longer, doesn't it?

I was just thinking the same thing!

No worries!! I am more than happy to do the driving. The duster and New rocks would be quite good. See my post for my clothing drama.

Saw your post - my suggestion still stands.

Dressing for parties is kinda tricky - one wants to impress, but also be able to move around and disrobe/re-robe easily.

The duster you wore to the first HOC party? That was amazing btw.

J and I will be there, I'm wearing really hot navy dress pants. MMMMMM lots of buttons *grins* (Of course this is all dependent on the chick tailoring them by Friday!)

Thanks :) And can't wait to see the navy pants - pester your tailor-person!

You and J. sound cute as little buttons!

I shall be pestering her for sure. It's not going to be the official enlisted naval dress uniform (because I don't like the bib shirt as much) as I'm going to wear the working uniform shirt. But ohhh the buttons!

Aww, thanks for the comment about J and I - I think we're pretty darn cute together *grins*

It's interesting but there are engineering challenges. If you shrink it too tightly it rips, especially on uneven "diameter" body parts like the legs. To avoid this you use several layers, which is a pain without the industrial stuff in rolls. (Several times the cost of normal pallet wrap.) Also it has to get pretty toasty to shrink, and the bottom may have something to say about that... or at least some entertaining noises to make. :>

Umm not that I would know any of this first-hand of course.

Oh, you have GOT to tell me what it takes to get this stuff to tear, strictly for practical purposes! We're finding that we almost have to saw with the Exacto knife to get it to cut correctly (though that might say more about our cutting tools than the plastic).

And yeah, I imagine it does get warm underneath several layers of plastic. Which, in certain environments, might not be a bad thing!

We must be getting different stuff because the kinds we've gotten rip very easily, especially if a little cut gets them started. The stuff I'm thinking of is heat shrinkable; you stick it to the window frame then use a hair dryer to shrink it and tighten it up. It's heating it up to shrink it that tends to be... challenging for the bottom. ;)

Yes, we're talking about two different materials here - I don't think the wrap I'm using is heat-sensitive in any way (if it were we'd sure as hell be using the blow-dryer treatment instead of tacking it in place with painter's tape!)
