Found SeventyPercent.com, the posh chocolate review site, via this Salon article (registration/view free add required, blahda blah) on the nouveau chocolate snobbery.

I don't think I'm a chocolate snob, as such - I mean, I think that dark chocolate M&Ms are one of the finest things I've come across in the past few years (please make more!), but the article does make a point about the difference between base candy and the truly fine sensual experience of a good chocolate. However, I can't cotton to the connoisseurial habit of pontification before digging in, talk about "all talk no action".

But letting it melt on your tongue is VERY HEAVEN....

Note to self: watching "Deadwood" too soon - like, a week - after the Serenity screening makes me talk - and write - like I've got a corn pone in my mouth. Gotta start reading Chaucer's blog again to wash it out....

I believe that the M&M company has come up with dark chocolate M&Ms in honor of the new Pirates of the Caribbean (my spelling sucks tonight) movie.

they made white chocolate m&m's for the new Pirate's movie. We had them at Hell for 50 cents a pack. I do know that Hershey has made some dark Chocolate bars but I've yet to find any.

White chocolate? Ack, but a pale [snerk] imitation of the Real Thing!

Are you talking about Hershey's Special Darks? They aren't bad in a pinch. Or is this a new thing I've not seen yet?

Mmmmm ... Hershey's Special Dark! anotheranon is right ... a very decent piece of dark chocolate for something that's sold in grocery checkouts. :-)

The PotC M&Ms being sold up here are the regular old milk chocolate ones ... I dunno who told the company that dark chocolate wouldn't sell in Canada, but that person is going to Shepherd Book's "special hell."

For the life of me I can't figure out why they discontinued the dark M&Ms here. It's like the company thinks that M&Ms are some kind of kid's treat or something :(

Ooooooo! Not a familiar wrapper/package, but I'll certainly be watching for it now that I know. And, if I don't have any luck, I can always go down the road and find out when the next Bernard Callebaut factory tour is. :-)
