Dear Senator Coleman....

Quote from a commenter at Daily Kos re: British MP Galloway's eloquent smackdown of the Republicans who tried to accuse him of profitting from the Food for Oil Program.
Disclaimer: I am not familiar with the MP's politics or stances - for all I know he's as creepy as the guys he reamed. But what he had to say was soo beautiful to these ears who are so sick of Democrat milquetoast:
I'd buy the guy a drink for just this little bit of snark, but read the whole thing. Or better yet, watch the good bits.

As a matter of fact, I have met Saddam Hussein exactly the same number of times as Donald Rumsfeld met him. The difference is Donald Rumsfeld met him to sell him guns and to give him maps the better to target those guns. I met him to try and bring about an end to sanctions, suffering and war, and on the second of the two occasions, I met him to try and persuade him to let Dr Hans Blix and the United Nations weapons inspectors back into the country - a rather better use of two meetings with Saddam Hussein than your own Secretary of State for Defence made of his.
I'd buy the guy a drink for just this little bit of snark, but read the whole thing. Or better yet, watch the good bits.

Date: 2005-05-23 03:13 am (UTC)I jest, but little. Galloway did nothing more outrageous than state the truth, blatantly. That shouldn't be a novel thing; I think it says something very unflattering about the strength of the Democrats that it is.
