ok fanfolks...
Jul. 24th, 2004 11:30 pmIt does appear that Gaiman's Death: The High Cost of Living is finally getting made into a feature film. Now the furious speculation begins - who will play Death? Ten years ago the obvious answer would have been Winona Ryder, but she is much too old now. So who will it be? Christina Ricci or Scarlett Johannson in black wigs spring to mind for me. Where does one find a perky goth teenager these days anyway?
On the reading stack: April Blood: Florence and the Plot Against the Medici - conspiracy, murder, and revenge in anticipation of seeing the Medici exhibit in Memphis next weekend, and The Power of Positive Confrontation, in an effort to overcome my standard sarcastic, nagging method of dealing. I'm also still reading The Salmon of Doubt; IMHO the funniest story so far was Adam's tale of becoming "the other human" to a pair of dogs.
Miscellaneous: refreshed hair dye, body polished, pedicured. I feel all fluffy now :) Even sewed a bit; I love the smell of french seams in the morning :P

Date: 2004-07-24 09:01 pm (UTC)Oh lord, C. and I were just arguing about who should play various of the Endless not long ago. (If there's ever been a more perfect Desire than Bowie, I don't know who it is.) I can't remember who we decided should be Death; C. still thinks Winona could do it, since a lot of the other folks whose names have been tossed about he thinks don't have the ability to be both as young and as old as Death needs to be. I'm pretty sure I suggested Scarlett or maybe Thora Birch (who was fabulous in "Ghost World").

Date: 2004-07-25 08:55 am (UTC)I thought Gaiman designed the Devil with Bowie in mind?
Yeah, I think that's my understanding as well; still think he'd make an excellent Desire though (but perhaps this is where I'm biased ;)). And Delerium of course has to be Tori.

Date: 2004-07-25 10:31 pm (UTC)Eliza Dushku?
Date: 2004-07-26 06:48 pm (UTC)Naomi Watts would have worked out, back when she was being cute and Jet Girl.
