Bad times make for articulate anger. The format is blinding but the content is sound:

If you're going to demand the equal treatment that is your right, then you ought to have both the empathy and the cojones not to buckle when the rights of even less popular groups are at stake.

See, you've got the right idea! And you make EXCELLENT points regarding the social/economic benefits of living in such an extended family.

Let's not just speak of polygamy though, but also of polyandry - I'm sure there are some women who would love to have multiple husbands! ;)

***chuckles*** I doublechecked that one in the dictionary before I posted because something in the back of my brain was nagging me about a misused term. Polygamy is a generic term for multiple mates (but is frequently misused to mean only wives ... probably because that is the more common polygamous situation); polyandry is multiple husbands; polygyny is actually the correct term for multiple wives.
