Today my supervisor and I had a Chat - you know, one of those where they close the door and you're sure you're going to get reprimanded/fired/handed a hellacious project.
Turns out he was just concerned at how tired I looked. He wasn't the first person to comment on it today, either. Myself, I've noticed how puffy and droopy my face is in the mirror for quite awhile now.
Yeah, yeah - I'm burning the candle at both ends, part of a weird mental balancing act that insists that if I let go for a second, everything in my life will fall to shit. Also not helped by the fact that I have a real problem relaxing without getting distracted.
If I could get away to a cabin in the middle of nowhere with a bag of books, I'd do it. As I can't, I will probably end up taking a couple of personal days over the holidays, if only to sleep.

distraction is great relaxation, if I go from top speed directly to fully relaxed I get migrain. I have to watch a movie or read or work alittle on my home study programming projects or have sex. gradually relaxing.
