more fashion lust

anotheranonGot this catalog in the mail over the weekend and finally flipped through. It's mostly basics, but I found a couple of gems (like this and this [also this, but I'd choose a different tapestry.]).
I definitely don't need to be shopping right now - I can't afford it and I truly don't NEED anything. I do find myself turning over in my mind how I'd make these things, though - somehow, if it's something I make I can convince myself it's not frivolous because I actually learn something during the process.
And then again, I need to look at patterns like a hole in my head as well - I have a huge backlog of styles I fall hopelessly in love with... every time I see the pattern. If I don't look, I don't remember and can therefore resist temptation.
I swear, I've got to figure out a way to eliminate sleep from my schedule so I can get some serious sewing done. I've not yet found a (legal) way to do this, so I'm trying to do an hour a night. Wish me luck!

Date: 2003-10-27 07:44 pm (UTC)They used to have really neat inexpensive stuff. Now nearly everything in there has to be drycleaned and it's not very well made. My last pair of pants from there fell apart in less than 3 months with normal wear and washing.
