D. and I have a running joke that Spice is not entirely unlike Crookshanks from "Harry Potter" - red, stripey, and too clever by half (I swear, she knows when we're planning to trim her claws :P)

I comment because she was unusually friendly today - this is a cat that normally plays hard to get, like a feline Scarlett O'Hara :P And when she's happy, she sheds - there is fur everywhere - I don't know where she gets it from! If only I had her powers of hair growth...

Nothing really of substance to say here, except cats are wonderful companions. They're not pets, they're more like small roomates who lack opposable thumbs.

Had some sewing success, described at the Hussar diary page. Pictures forthcoming, as soon as I remember to charge of the digital camera.

D. is playing merrily with his new Gmail account and I'm cleaning out email. Delete is working better now, so I feel less swamped.

I made it out to historic fencing practice for the first time in about a month. The rapier coach is finishing his book (on rapier master Salvatore Fabris), so I'm curiously finding myself practicing a lot of longsword, a weapon I'd not chosen to focus on but it is very unique - this is a serious combat weapon (though we practice with wooden wasters), so it's fun to make these huge hammering, slashing movements :)

Still reading a lot, still working through the laundry. Have a packed week ahead (haircut, last fencing club of the semester, woo!) but trust me, this is an exception.
