Went through my enormous cache of fabric scraps and found some remnants of red Chinese silk brocade that has been festering away for a couple of years. I also found some leftover red linen canvas from the bolt I bought for the Tudor gown, and some denim/twill I had used to cover our old sofa until I got a fitted drop for it.

So, I've decided to make a pair of front lacing stays out of the brocade. All I need is thread, trim, and lacing. I can use cable ties as boning (I just love the Elizabethan Costumer's Guide to Home Depot).

I suppose I'll be able to wear these as period stays - it would certainly spare D. the time and trouble of lacing me into my current back-lacer. However, I'm thinking more along the lines of this - not original I know, but it looks so damn good!

In other news, D.'s sister is in town briefly and we had dinner with her last night. I am so lucky to have such cool in-laws. That entire family is so chill, I can't figure it.

Stopped out tonight after work to get trim for the upcoming corset project. Who would have known - lots of red (and green) trim in the store this time of year. So that worked out well.

First I'm trying to finish the partlet (at long bloody last!); I hate having 2 projects going at once. All it needs are the buttons/loops, which I'm making the buttons out of wooden beads covered in an embroidery floss "net".

Being dull repetitive work, I'm working my way through the "Farscape" shows D. has recorded, beginning to end, while I do these buttons. Interesting how my current favorites (Lexx, Red Dwarf, Farscape) all work along similar lines - a mixed bag of species floating through space. They're all different ENOUGH though.

It irritates me to death that I feel most creatively inspired to sew while I'm at work struggling to come up with a single, decent web page design, one I actually LIKE and want to show to other people. Can't have it all though.

Finally found my Warm Cream but so far my hands are not needing it, incredibly. Maybe that iron I'm taking is making my blood actually move.
