Work is back on tomorrow. And with the help of D. and the many neighborhood snow shovelers, I can probably drive my own car there as well.

Not sure what I think. On the one hand, wahh, vacation's over! On the other hand, it's been almost a WEEK, folks. Having no schedule has been as unsettling as freeing so it will be nice to have to be awake in order to be somewhere, etc.

I fervently hope fencing club is open tomorrow. I'm champing at the bit and have some cookies to work off....

Today I tried to take care of all necessities before Snowpocalypse III: Snoverload landed: I managed to drop off rent check and hit the grocery (again!), on foot because the roads here are still hazardous - none of the plowing has gone down to the pavement so everything is coated in a few inches of ice and snow that are tightly packed but still slippery.

As I type, even MORE of the white stuff is falling down, with predicted 50+ mph winds forecast. Con: more snow. Pro: perhaps the wind will blow it into drifts and off of my car (?)

I stayed away from the computer yesterday to make a dent in the vest (view D) and make a final attempt at digging my car out of last week's snow. I can now open the driver's side door and the rear wheels are mostly freed - digging out the front half would necessitate dumping the surplus into my neighbors' yards, and I feared this a bit rude (what IS the etiquette for snow removal, anyway? It's not like we usually get tons of it here so I genuinely don't know).

Being indoors this much lights a desire to bake, and I got the ingredients for massive chewy chocolate chip cookies. And they are huge, and tasty, but dense as a black hole - I may never eat again.

I'll try and get some photos of the epic sewing binge results up tonight or tomorrow (I'm strongly suspecting work will be closed again).

Don't get me wrong - I like having days off as much as anyone else. What I'm tired of is digging, waiting, digging, waiting.

  • 22:04 @MargoEve - Big Bang Theory is grossly underrated. Wait 'til they start with the Trek references! #
  • 22:06 Gov't closed again tomorrow = another snow day for me. I declare sewing & cookie day. #
  • 22:07 When I was a kid & it snowed I got to "play Hoth" w/ my SW action figures. If I tried that in this I'd lose all my toys :P #

Not much new news for folks who read my last Twitter feed. The snow stopped and as I type this it's a pretty sunny day out there.

I didn't have enough sugar for cookies, so I made biscuits instead. Mmm, biscuits.

D. is stuck in the city at a hacker con. I expect him tonight but I'll be damned if I know where he can park. The parking lot has been plowed - several times - but most cars are still snowed in, including my own. I tried to dig it out yesterday but didn't plan very well, as I found myself in hip-deep snow (the snowbank behind my car is probably a yard deep) with a huge shovelfull that I couldn't toss anywhere reachable without getting in some other car's way.

I did clean off our front porch (tossed the excess snow into our yard - we may watch it melt until April but it affects only us) and am tickled that I was able to do so :) Mind, my back and legs felt it last night.

Like [livejournal.com profile] ladyaelfwynn I wonder if we're having work tomorrow. Sure, the storm is over but some places were out of power and I don't know how much has been plowed. That, and we're expecting to be crapped on again in a few days, so I'm wondering if all this shoveling is going to be in vain :/

  • 17:25 Also tried to dig out my car - no point, really, as there's nowhere to put the snow. My guestimate is 2'-30" out there. #
  • 17:27 #fencing is canceled tomorrow, as is any hope of getting to the grocery. Well, I might be able to walk for small supplies #snowpocalypse #
