Remember how I posted that I didn't qualify for Summer Nationals?

Well, I get a brief email today explaining that I DID make it - squiffed in right under the rope. Due to changes in bylaws, requirements, auto-qualifiers etc. there was one "seat" left and I am in it(!)

I genuinely thought the email had gone to the wrong person or some other error! Needless to say I'm pleased, just kind of amazed!

I'm looking at the logistics of going, and whether if it's a good idea: TX is a long/pricey way to go for a single day's fencing. And it's Texas. In July.

Grapevine TX. I gather it's where the Dallas/Ft.Worth airport lives.

Grapevine isn't *too* bad. (I lived in the DFW area for eight years.) It's about like the DC area in the summer time.

Congrats!! If you haven't been to a Nationals yet, you should def. consider going. For one thing, flights to Dallas are often *relatively* inexpensive and I hear via NPR that this is a good time to book tickets as there are a lot of specials running with the major airlines.

I'm discussing options re: roommates and possible team play so as to maximize my Nationals experience (doesn't THAT sound like corporate speak? :P)

Re: major airlines - now I know not to book Air Tran when I'm carrying equipment!
