  • 21:17 Why do bridesmaid's dresses have to be ordered so far in advance? Seems simple to me - try on at store, order from warehouse. What gives?
  • 21:17 And not kicking this headache/throatiness sucks.
  • 21:47 Both the cats love the cotton I'm working with. No idea why, it's just broadcloth but they want to sit all over it (and my work)!
  • 12:43 Still a bit stuffy but better. Eating echinacea and zinc throat lozenges. A.non WILL return!
  • 13:02 Study on US reading trends: www.nea.gov/research/ToRead.pdf. Short version: fewer teens/adults read. How can we change this?

It's because the bridal company waits until they have a large number of order for the same style in the same color, so they can manufacture them in one batch, which is cheaper.

This was a rhetorical question, but I'm glad there's a real answer - much of the Wedding Industrial Complex seems like a scam to me so a logical reason is VERY welcome!

Fittings, fittings, fittings. When I was bridesmaid and maid of honor, I had to get fitted 3 x before the wedding. Also I suspect if there are a lot of people in the wedding party, they want the dresses from the same dye lot to make sure they match, in which case they need to order more of the stuff.

Granted, this was all in the days before places like David's Bridal where people could get the same dress(es) all across the country etc.

And, well, the dresses are made in China (at least some of them)...
