I have been catching up on news coverage this morning (not on TV! Just the web... so I can control what and how much). One aspect mentioned several places is that if there is a prolonged war (or whatever) to rout out the terrorists, it is entirely possible that there may be other strikes in the States as well.

Even as I type that I don't really believe it.... it just sounds so paranoid. But if you'd told me last Monday about what would happen last Tuesday, I wouldn't have believed it either. I feel as though all bets are off and like this may be a valid concern.

So.... if you live in/near a major city, maybe you should stock up on first aid supplies. Not just bandaids and Bactine but things like heavy duty bandages, surgical scissors, burn medication, etc. Just in case. Because you never know.

If nothing else, you feel like you're trying to protect yourself and others just a little bit by having things like this around.

You are right - you should get your affairs in order, write a will, etc. I will discuss same with D. tonight.

But the funny thing is.... that is the last thing that occurred to me. The possibility that I might not live to see this through. You're making me think of it now, certainly, but I wasn't before.

I was thinking a lot of other scary stuff though. Like what if we need to leave. I was thinking... move all items of value to the basement. Throw tarpaulins over everything. Grab a few essentials (passport, marriage certificate, photo albums). Put the doors on the cat carriers (currently off - they like their "cat condos") so I can shove Spice and Kisia in in a moments notice.

But death never occurred to me.
