Are they really all that? I'm thinking of getting one to use as a multi-purpose wrap/sling/blanket etc. for the trip. Do they come in multiple sizes?

More substantial update later - been out hitting people with pointy things all day and have laundry etc. to catch up on.

Advice:

Do NOT buy a pashmina here in America. The ones I bought in Florence were less expensive and much better quality than anything I've seen here unless one goes to New York and buys an all-cashmere one.

I have no idea if they're still offering this bargain, but a shop on the Via Cavour was selling five pashminas for E30. If you are getting into town early and have a chance to do some shopping, I recommend going there, or to one of the small shops near Santa Maria Novella.

And oh yeah - they're great. I love anything shawl or cloak-like, and pashminas are wonderfully versatile.

I have a plain black one with knotted fringe. Was pricy, but worth it to keep me at the level of warm needed for cooler nights here in Southern California.
