Started off Friday morning with pancakes and finished Sunday night with banana bread. In between I took a recipe recommended by B. at club and with her variation (1/2 cup butter, 1/2 tsp cinnamon) made some very yummy noshables - sweet like a cookie, but filling like a biscuit - nom!

We didn't do any fireworks viewing or picnicking on the 4th but it was very happy otherwise as I had several solid hours of sewing time on the fitted gown. The odd pattern pieces that have been sitting on my work table for ~a month now look like something identifiable as clothing. I'm in the midst of hand-sewing the lining and outer together using tiny, evenly spaced stitches. The wool outer is dense and rich, but I'm not sure it will photograph well - will give that a swing later on.

Saturday [livejournal.com profile] dotheranon and I met up with some of our old raving buddies from "back in the day" and had a wonderful time catching up with 10+ years of "what have you been up to?" I was especially pleased for D. who found someone with similar computer interests to chat with - I can't often geek with him on his level so I'm glad he found someone who "got" him.

Everyone is thriving and active and we agreed we shouldn't wait another 10 years before we do it again!

Sunday was fencing club (as always) and for the 2nd practice running there was no air conditioning. With rests between bouts and frequent trips to the water cooler I made it for an hour and a half but this CANNOT continue and be healthy.

My feet continue better - so good, in fact, that I overdid it a little and fell back into bad old "galloping" footwork. I'm a bit sore but I know why :P I see continued work on tiny, tidy steps this week. Club may be thin because 3 of our best are at Summer Nationals this week.

You baked fardles ... Yum! (that's the Scottish name I've always known them as ... will have to try this variant one day)
