From the Questions That Can't Be Answered in One Line at Twitter:

What's the big deal about mineral makeup?

In particular I've been seeing this company's boxed sets online and in shops all over of late, it seems. The colors don't look like anything special and texture wise I'm a satisfied MAC StudioFix/powder customer. Has anyone tried these? What's your opinion of them?

I ask because of a Sephora gift cert. breathing down my neck and I'm realizing that there are New Things in the cosmetics world that I haven't a clue about ([livejournal.com profile] geekchick explained "primer" to me last night).

I have the BE foundation and Mineral Veil. I like the texture (on me) better than I did StudioFix; the latter always felt too cakey, and I break out less with the BE than I did with other foundations. I find I can't wear it in the winter though because my skin gets too dry. (Yes, that's in large part because I don't moisturize enough.) That's true for me with any powder foundation though, not specific to this brand; see previous note about needing to moisturize. ;)

I don't know whether we'd use the same shade or not, but I have most of a container of the foundation in "Fair" that I use only rarely these days; if you want to try it out without burning your gift card on it, I'd be happy to package up a sample of it for you.

If it's not too much trouble, sure, I'd like to give it a go - send it on!

Not a problem at all. Let me find something to put it in that won't pop open at the worst possible time and I'll pack some up.
