No, not my hair, though that may come in time....

Nah, I had a couple of fabric-y things that weren't quite the colors I wanted, so I bought a large tub of burgundy acid dye and got some wonderful results in the washing machine. The colors aren't very true (this IS the web, after all) but this gives you some idea of the differences between the originals and the results:

dyed over regency gown, with original fabric for comparison

Finally dyed over the brain-searingly hot pink Regency from CC '04 into a color I'm more likely to wear again. It's now a lovely burgundy/purple shade :)

Tan fabric, brown-red dyeover

This wool is a beautiful shade of golden brown... which looks terrible on me. I ran a test piece through with the dress and it took the dye better than the nylon, resulting in a rich burgundy-brick/brown! The wash cycle also felted the fabric to a lovely plush finish. Assuming the entire ~4 yards comes out the same way (and I have enough), I think this is going to be a loose gown or other 16th century outerwear equivalent.

Granted, my eye-searingly pink dress is slightly more re-usable than anyone else's, but I did wear it for my office Halloween party this year. Everyone loved it. Just glad noone suggested I go platinum!
