Nah, I had a couple of fabric-y things that weren't quite the colors I wanted, so I bought a large tub of burgundy acid dye and got some wonderful results in the washing machine. The colors aren't very true (this IS the web, after all) but this gives you some idea of the differences between the originals and the results:

Finally dyed over the brain-searingly hot pink Regency from CC '04 into a color I'm more likely to wear again. It's now a lovely burgundy/purple shade :)

This wool is a beautiful shade of golden brown... which looks terrible on me. I ran a test piece through with the dress and it took the dye better than the nylon, resulting in a rich burgundy-brick/brown! The wash cycle also felted the fabric to a lovely plush finish. Assuming the entire ~4 yards comes out the same way (and I have enough), I think this is going to be a loose gown or other 16th century outerwear equivalent.
