We're real, not unicorns :P

Edit: I forgot to add - this link courtesy [livejournal.com profile] dotheranon, though I've seen multiple news stories on the same thing today.

I'm sorry, we'll require photographic proof. Send pix to notapervreally@gmail.com

Nor are we 'fence straddlers' or trendy bitches who only do it to cater to men's sexual fantasies. I'm glad someone's finally 'proven' it. :-p

I know this. You know this. Many bisexual women of my acquaintance know this from simple first-hand experience.

But yeah, hopefully with the APA behind it the word will get 'round to those who don't "get it" first hand :P

It's just nice to be vindicated even though it's from the APA. I don't know if anyone will really listen, especially the gays and lesbians I've known who've given me more grief about my sexuality than the straight people I know. I know I'm not a closeted lesbian in denial. I like boys, I like girls. It's that simple.

IMHO confused bisexuals are only confused inasmuch as they're getting from both straight and gay worlds that it's simply not possible to genuinely feel attraction to both men and women.

I can see that if someone hears it enough they might start to believe it, and either be pressured to "pick one" or feel mixed up because they can't.

I'm not going to attempt to label people attracted to transpeople or to others who don't fit into tidy boy or girl boxes; I think it's fair to say that the "bi" label still isn't enough to cover everything. And that's ok.

Exactly. I don't really like labels in general. People are attracted to/fall in love with who they will and that's that. My own feeling is that everyone is really bisexual but it's a bellcurve with some people more attracted to one end than the other, thus falling into straight or homosexual categories because, as you said, it's tidy boxes.

I use the label bisexual cos it's the easiest way to describe my sexual identity but it's too simplistic really. I just am attracted to people, regardless of gender/orientation/background. I find brains sexier than anything.

I also think it's helpful that the study found that bisexuals are completely capable of monogamy. That blows to bits another stereotype.

Yeah. That was actually very heartening!

Given that I'm 54, if bisexuality is merely a phase, I've been stuck in a phase for a long time!

Yep, 31 years for me. When is this transition supposed to be over?
