Klein Sexual Orientation Grid

I scored an average of 2.43

01 2 3 4 5
6

HeterosexualBisexual Homosexual

Meaning

This result can also be related to the Kinsey Scale:

0 = exclusively heterosexual
1 = predominantly heterosexual, incidentally homosexual
2 = predominantly heterosexual, but more
than incidentally homosexual
3 = equally heterosexual and homosexual
4 = predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally
heterosexual
5 = predominantly homosexual, incidentally heterosexual
6 = exclusively homosexual

Summary

[ed. The takeaway point is {if an internet quiz can be said to have such a thing}]:

The idea of this excercise is to understand exactly how dynamic a person's sexual orientation can be, as well as how fluid it can be over a person's lifespan. While a person's number of actual homo/heterosexual encounters may be easy to categorize, their actual orientation may be completely different. Simple labels like "homosexual", "heterosexual", and "bisexual" need not be the only three options available to us.

I like that the Klein grid takes into account not just what you've done but what you'd like to do - a lot more nuanced, IMHO.

Geek orientation - I don't even wanna go there. It's too complicated and messy to get into :P

My score was 2.33.

I've always thought one's orientation was far more complex than the either/or we're presented with. I've always seen it as a sort of sliding scale that can change according to the experiences one has had and people one's met. It was nice to see this perspective taken into account.

In my admittedly un-learned opinion human sexuality is far, far more nuanced and flexible than the tidy boxes proscribed by society(ies).

IMHO even the Klein grid isn't nuanced enough to capture everything - at the end of the day I suspect that the broad categories of "hetero-, bi-, homo-" are really just shorthand for multi-layered, faceted lives/attractions/experiences.

Very interesting article - thanks for linking to it. I suspect that the expression of sexuality strongly influenced by cultural/social pressures and expectations.
