One round of playing in traffic is quite enough; three in one day is downright uncalled for. Especially when one round involves construction, traffic, and a huge cement-and-concrete traffic-pattern-changing fricking edifice getting in the way :(

I think I've been exemplary of late in controlling my temper and chalking up annoyances outside my control as "not my fault, can't be helped, moving on" but today just about tapped my patience dry.

I was supposed to go to a party tonight and just Could. Not. Face the idea of getting back in the damn car again. Also a fencing oriented party and I need a pointy thing in hand tonight like I need a fat hole in my head :P

Attempts to lighten the mood: "Reign of Fire" - not perhaps his best of his ouevre, but definitely another I Can't Believe It's Christian Bale moment or two as he's definitely not Hollywood glamorous in either appearance or role. If anything, Matthew McConaughy arrogantly seems to think he can upstage him here with his larger than life character, but I think not! Also, Gerard Butler as comic relief plus screamingly loud CGI dragons for the win - high art it ain't, but excellent when one's brain is already toast :P

Also: Modish, for the discriminating indie/handmade shopper. Why surf Etsy when they've done it for me? :P Seriously, some very nice finds here.

Debating whether to sew or avoid pointy things all together tonight....

Loved Reign of Fire! I use the "Telling the kids the plot of Star Wars" moment to explain how oral tradition works. They love it, and it really brings the idea of an oral culture home. :)

And McConaughy looked like he was having waaay too much fun. Who knew he had biceps?

That example of oral tradition is a great one, especially because if civilization did end today, Star Wars would almost certainly be among the first things passed on through play acting.

And yeah, I think McConaughy and Bale both worked out for their roles, though frankly I think Bale wore his role better :P

I have to agree with you, even though I'm not much of a Bale fan. :)
