I'm taking the next couple of days off work while contractors come in to replace all of our windows. The main reason I'm needed here is to prevent Thang and Other Thang from jumping out windows or otherwise getting out. This will involve moving them from bathroom confinement to a larger room when it becomes available. I hate shutting them up on an 8'x8' square of tile for hours on end, but it's better than a kennel or putting them in their carriers for the day :/

Depending on space/noise/interruptions, I may try to do some washing-machine dyeing and/or test my hypothesis that it IS possible to get a smock and a shift out of only 5 yards of linen. Wish me luck.

My fluffy cat watched that commercial with me - she was hanging out on my desk. heee
Best of luck with the herding and the textile fun.

You could borrow a playpen and turn it upside down over the resident furballs as a moveable cage ... they wouldn't like it any better than the bathroom, but at least they'd get to watch what's going on. :p

Just sent you some scans ... an article that I noticed in one of the back issues of Threads that I didn't include was "Oops! Not Enough Fabric?" ... want it? ;-)

I don't think they WANT to watch what's going on - they are skittish around strangers at the best of times; strangers with big boots running back and forth with toolS and lumber, even more so.

But, the upside-down playpen might be an idea for some other time.

Got the scans - thansk! And more is always welcome :)

You're welcome ... and the "Oops!" article is now in your inbox. This is working nicely for me, too, as I scan the cover of each issue I've leafed through and get it added to my LibraryThing, giving me an easy-check record of which issues I've got (this is one thing that would actually be slower/more awkward with my home cataloguing software). :-)

You can probably pick up one of the square folding playpens cheaply at a secondhand place ... the mesh on those is too tough to be clawed through and it'd give the cats more room than the carriers (plus there'd be space to stick the litter box in with them).

New windows.....*drool*

As for cat herding, we do that everytime we want to use the driveway. For some reason, the cats just love to lay out there at night and in the afternoon. When we are leaving together, I shoo the cats out of the way while Tim backs his car down the drive. We try to keep them in the backyard but they insist on napping under and on the cars. Litter One was recently introduced to the great outdoors and has discovered the carport.
Good luck with your Thangs!

hahaha

Love that commercial, one of my uncles was a writer on it. Not sure what all his involvement was, but I remember getting phone calls from my grandmother about 'a commercial that Uncle Dan worked on is being shown during some football game?' (ie the Super Bowl)
