shoe notes
Aug. 31st, 2007 05:56 pmStopped off at my nearby crack warehouse after work to seek a shoehorn for D. and ended up window shopping (and shopping for myself, a tiny bit). It's amusing what's coming back:
80's style slouchy boots, all heights/heel heights. I kind of like, but I remember as a kid being frustrated that it was almost impossible to find boots (or anything, really) that were basic and plain, without folds, zips, funny shaped heels, novelty fabrications, etc. But then, fashion is about the new, the novel, the details. I'm guessing these are to be worn with the skinny jeans that were so popular last year, because IIRC the looser leg opening and folds of leather/suede/whatever stand away from the leg and look awkward if worn on bare legs.
80's style "street shoes", though I don't know what they're called now. They look like lace up jazz shoes only with a real sole. Duran Duran used to wear white ones in their early videos (can't find a still image for the life of me) and that's what I saw today - white and silver. Think I'll skip this trend this go around - I had a grey pair as a kid and even those were hard to keep clean :P
Ballet flats - in every concievable color. I actually kinda like these, though I don't need a hundred pair. Not supportive enough to walk all day in but comfortable enough, go with everything, etc. blah blah...yes, I choose my shoes more for practicality than looks these days :P
