men in kilts - variations
Jul. 31st, 2007 09:16 pmAnother favorite subject in Pandagon's Tuesday lechery (first one possibly not worksafe). My own additions: Liam Neeson and a better one of Ewan McGregor, to inspire your Qui Gon/Obi Wan perving needs (and this one of Liam Neeson, which while neither on topic nor worksafe, is still awfully nice -
semmie17, don't ever say I didn't do anything nice for ya :P).
Regrettably unable to find any of women in kilts (I don't mean schoolgirl plaid skirts, I mean PROPER kilts), but did find an amusing one of Mulder in skirt, Scully in tux.
I am also pleased to note the existence of the Society for the Promotion, Advancement and Necessity of Kilts on Men Everywhere - I'm sure it's completely coincidental that it abbreviates to S.P.A.N.K.M.E. ;)
D. still needs a kilt, and desperately, but my laziness/desire to work on stuff for me keeps getting in the way. One day!

Date: 2007-08-01 01:45 am (UTC)The only change I'd make is that the outfit DEMANDS black, 8-lace Doc Martens.

Don long saffron shirt.
Place leather belt on floor/ground.
Lay 5 foot x 6 yard piece of tartan fabric lengthways and centred (2.5 feet above, 2.5 feet below) over belt.
Starting at each edge, pleat fabric, using tartan lines as guidelines, until ends of belt are visible. Do not let cats assist.
Lie on back on top of the whole shebang, use belt to wrap pleated fabric 'round self and buckle belt.
Stand up, gather handful of top edge of fabric above waist into hand and pin to front of one shoulder
Finis and no need even to warm up the sewing machine! ;-)

Alternatively, just go through the same motions with a narrower piece of fabric for the wee kilt, wrap a tough piece of plastic around D's waist before he dons it, then grab a stapler and nail each pleat in place (unless, of course, you're in a playful mood and prefer stapling direct to the body ***GRIN***)

Er... well... yeah. Ever since I made Tommen slide off her Kinnarp with "Aura Torben" I've had to admit I'm a teensy witsy bitsy bit pervy.

I like the leather kilts best.....
Date: 2007-08-01 05:32 am (UTC)I would love to get Tim a kilt. At the Ren Faire that we usually attend there is a tent with tables full of fabric for making them as well as a few ready to wear. They even have people to demonstrate how to wear the kilt and books showing what colors were for what clans.

Date: 2007-08-01 12:09 pm (UTC)I say - GET TIM A KILT! Perhaps he can wear it around the house if nowhere else!
If not at Ren Faire, I'm alerted to this Ebay store (http://stores.ebay.com/Kiltmart), which manages to keep their prices down by offering kilts in (what is hopefully a good quality - haven't shopped with them myself) polyester.

Date: 2007-08-01 01:08 pm (UTC)Thank you for including the picture of Mulder in a dress.
I'll look into that EBay store, thank you for mentioning it.
Thank you for the arguments for wearing a kilt, too.
I learn so much from you.
if it helps...
