I'm with Pandagon: why are single women threatened with 'crazy cat lady'-hood as a penalty for not getting married?
I mean, IMHO cats are fine companions - so lovely, in fact, that D. and I, while married, still managed to see their appeal and nowown live with two. D. aspires to Crazy Old Cat Man-hood - he jokes about being the little old man down the street who builds cybercats ("Watch out for him, he makes cats!" "You mean breeds, right?" "No, I mean manufactures cats"....)
Do these silly people not realize that crazy old cat ladies find other crazy old cat people to share their lives and cats with?

Date: 2007-01-30 07:41 pm (UTC)The Crazy Old Cat Lady on my street has chosen me as her heir and keeps trying to get me to take on more of her cats. Her husband is in ill health and she must pass the title on. I have 8 at the moment and Alpha is once again pregnant. I just can't take any more in and feel so bad when she asks for me to take in yet another. I believe it is my destiny to be the Crazy Old Cat Lady. Thank God my husband loves cats as much as I do!
