I've watched the first 6-ish episodes of the series and I'm enjoying it. Some notes:
- I was expecting a comedy but got a drama, a sometimes dark one at that. Still, it's growing on me.
- Captain Jack and his crew are largely attractive but not unbelievably so; it's one of the things I love about UK tv in general - if you're watching, say, a crime drama, you don't feel like you've stumbled onto a fashion shoot. They look like people you'd see, you know, doing their jobs, without constant fear of breaking a nail or scuffing a shoe :P
- Tangential - their clothes don't look like something off the runways either.
- Speaking of which, thank the maker - the women aren't perpetually in heels! Someone in costuming (writing? BBC in general?) is cognizant of the fact that stomping around the Welsh countryside in stilettos is stupid - let's hear it for sneakers!
- All of the characters are comfortably bisexual - evidently this was intentional and while there's the obvious titillation factor of two girls kissing, it's not thrust forward in the spirit of giggling adolescents, and the guys smooch each other too! I predict that Captain Jack will sleep with all of them, but not before they all shag each other first :P

Date: 2006-12-19 04:23 pm (UTC)I've gone over to the Dark Side of the Net and have been downloading it as a torrent. I don't do that with movies, but for a TV show that currently has no play or plans to play in the US, I'll do it.......and it's so worth it!
