weekend in review
Dec. 10th, 2006 10:39 pmThis weekend it was all about lube:
Lube for my car - got my transmission fluid changed. No discernible improvement in performance, but the ongoing absence of grinding gears is music to my ears.
Lube for my sewing machine - I'll spare the tale of my bewildered search through the basement for the sewing machine oil, but it's safe to say that I've put it away so well that I have no idea where it is :P Got a refill on the way to getting the car worked on and am now officially sewing the venetians.
Social lube: IMHO coffee, more than alcohol, is what fuels conversation. The morning was spent up the highway with new acquaintance G. at a large and comprehensive comics shop - I swear, I never knew just how much merchandise and marketing goes into every concievable genre and fandom. G. is a Wonder Woman fan and collector; I mostly window shopped, thinking of taking my sister there because with her being a Harry Potter collector it is completely her kind of place.
In the evening spent time with
vree,
zen4me,
kiya,
lady_masque, L., J., and another G. drinking more coffee and re-watching "The Secretary". On second viewing I realized how incredible Maggie Gyllenhaal's performance was - that anyone can do so much acting just with facial expression is beyond me!
I got home very late and slept even later, so I did not making it out for rapier fencing, though I did go through the solo drills on my own.
Taking a short break from sending out holiday cards (I've found that 5 a day gets all cards out the door before 12/25) and such. I should sleep, or at least try to.
