travel time (?)
Mar. 14th, 2002 09:48 pmSomeone pointed out to me today that I've not taken any vacation time since I started working at my current job. That's not entirely true - I've taken a long weekend here and there, mostly for family stuff, and a long weekend at Coolfont...a couple of Octobers ago.
So I've got all this time, but all I've got planned is Costume College in July.
So D. and I discussed the possibility of some weekend trips. I don't think he is as enamoured of the whole idea of traveling as I am - he has seen the world to a large degree, and apart from the places he's seen and really likes, he can kind of take it or leave it. I am still catching up desperately so....
Here are places I'm toying with visiting over the next year or so:
I won't even go into the foreign countries I'd like to see before I'm 40.

Here are places I'm toying with visiting over the next year or so:
- New York City. I've lived here nearly 7 (7!? already?) years and never made the trek up.
- Toronto. 3 words: Bata Shoe Museum. That, and I've never been to any part of Canada, might as well start with one of the largest cities.
- New Orleans. D. is very much against N.O. on the grounds that it is unsafe and hot/humid. I for one don't really have any interest in doing the Mardi Gras thing, but would like to see the French Quarter and the cemeteries - I guess you could say the historical/"Anne Rice" bits.
- Savannah. Last time I was there I was around 3; needless to say I don't remember a whole lot. Again - history/architecture geeking.
- The Southwest - never been in that part of the country, ever. The idea of canyons and desert is so different from what I know I imagine it would be very interesting.
I won't even go into the foreign countries I'd like to see before I'm 40.

The idea of Maine has an appealing "getting away from it all" flavor.
