random fencing.. and more randomness
Dec. 6th, 2006 10:36 pmJust got back from fencing (well not JUST, I've been sitting here catching up on email, but even so..). Had an off(ish) day: didn't feel tired or out of sorts but for some reason just couldn't get into the right "headspace" to succeed today.
Camerapeople from local news were there, profiling one of the veteran fencers, which is nice because B. really IS good and deserves some recognition.
Other stuff: I've spent less time online since getting back from Atlanta because of technical issues and a desire to sew, but also just a kind of withdrawn mood I'm in. I'd rather read in bed than read sitting at my screen.
Part of this is the cold - I'm not freezing until in pain like I used to, but I'm still drying out. Found a good lotion, though, that keeps me from turning into a lizard :P
Debating what to do with my favorite pair of tweed pants; they've always been a smidge too short and given the latest styles they really look like floods now. I'm almost positive I've got the leftover fabric somewhere (because throwing out fabric = anathema), and if so I can add a cuff for length. If not I'm considering making them over into crop pants but.. gahh, they're SO trendy, I'd end up throwing them out within a year :/
Word of the Day: Furmometer, hat tip
geekchick.
Drama llama that has arisen in one of my social circles is, happily (at least for me) trying to resolve itself.
Work has slowed due to people taking vacation/sick leave; to avoid having to use the latter I got my flu shot today (finally). The holiday itself is looking a bit thin due to financial responsibilty and my little golden car but... still flyin'. Sometimes that's enough.
And really, I have more scintillating, substantial thoughts beating around in my head than might seem immediately apparent, and I do hope to cough up a mental furball or two in here sometime in the future because th gears, they are a' turnin'.
And before I channel Malcolm Reynolds a second more I'm going to go take out my itchy contacts and fall into bed.

Date: 2006-12-08 01:03 am (UTC)Ok, maybe I'm projecting. It would make me uncomfortable.
Lotion: Will have to try that out. Slathering baby oil on at every opportunity is not working so well for me this winter.
Hope you feel less out of sorts soon!

Date: 2006-12-08 01:22 am (UTC)It did at first - I'm a bit weird about being photographed by people I don't know/for purposes I don't control because of the stalking thing. But then it occurred to me that I'm only likely to show up in the background, in full fencing gear (including face-obscuring mask), so I tried not to let it bug me too much.
But, good though B. is, I didn't fence her last night 'cos I knew she was the focus and didn't want to get "caught" on film.
