Ok, so, fall, but it has cooled off and the feline habits are changing a bit.

They've both been on a diet since their vet exam in July. They aren't hideously fat, but both (yes, even sleek, svelte Kisia) have developed a "wee pudge" in the past couple of years, so we've cut their daily intake by 1/3 cup.

During the summer they didn't notice beyond a few wistful glances at the food dish and then back at us, as if to say, "That bowl seem a bit empty to you?" In the past week, though, Kisia has been downright insistent - dinnertime is about 11 pm but Kisia starts dancing around the dish at 9, every time one of us passes by :P D. is determined to win this battle of wills, but it's SO hard to resist when they're throwing down such intimidating cute!

Must fight Southern impulse to overfeed....

They've also started a "dispute" over the bedroom now that we've got the Big Fluffy Comforter on the bed. Kisia doesn't usually allow Spice in the bedroom when either of us are in there, but Spice is very determined as she has been VERY frisky with the cooler weather. Hairy eyeballs have been cast, chases have been made, because Kisia is a Vicious Territorial Thing :P Usually it ends with Spice running up and down the stairs "singing" for awhile and settling into one of the "houses" (carriers sans doors, lined with polarfleece). I don't think she's suffering much :P

It's like having a fuzzy household "Wild Kingdom" :P

Ours too have entered full-on Winterized Mode, wherein they chase each other about the house more enthusiastically than normal, with loud "kerlump kerlump kerlumps" going up & down the stairs. Fight over the warm, cozy, fuzzy bed with warm people in it? OH yeah. They have also been downing more than their normal weight in food, as if they have tapeworms or something. Where does all that food go??? Their tummies are so tiny!!

I guess their little instincts are telling them to huddle up and bulk up :P I did wonder if it was just mine - could this be cats exhibiting consistency??

Muhaha -- yes, it's shocking, really. Now MY instincts are telling me to do exactly the same things, only I with my wonderful human self-awareness have a terrible fear of the large amount of flab that would swiftly appear (is appearing?) were I listen to what my genes are telling me. *stop the voices!* Seriously, I could live on the sofa eating chocolate all winter... Actually, that's not such a bad idea...
