Battlestar Galactica - season cliffhanger

I liked the concept, but thought the "one year later" section was a bit compressed for time. Even so:

• Can we all just smack Gaius Balthar now? I always thought he was a pig, now he's a cigarillo-smoking surrender monkey as well. What the hell does Six see in him?
  
• Please, please let Starbuck not only get back in the cockpit but also CUT HER DAMNED HAIR! She's not made for on-ground civilian living! Am I evil for wanting Anders to die because Starbuck is more interesting when she's unhappy?
  
• I love the smell of subtext in the morning - I don't think the Kat/Starbuck standoff was explored, ah, sufficiently...
  
• What happened between Lee and Starbuck? Feel free to speculate away in the comments, 'cos I have no ideas.
  
• What became of the Sharon on Galactica?
  
• Damn, they better not pull a "Rome" and make us wait 2 years for the next season :P

Oh, yes, those questions!!!!!!!!!!!!! Personally, I think Baltar is a Cylon under deep cover. How else did he survive the nuclear explosion on Caprica???????????? Can anyone else say Cylon reincarnation????? And President Baltar sure has screwed everything up, hasn't he? Egads. Someone assassinate this guy!!!

Starbuck is indeed, not made for ground - she need to be in space for sure. I don't think she's happy, even with Anders around. She won't be till she gets back in a Viper.

Kat/Starbuck - this was an odd thing for me. I think Starbuck should have kicked her insubordinate ass from the start.

Lee and Starbuck? Oooooh, makes me toesies curl, that does! Were they really lovers????????? Or just good friends???????

And the Sharon on Galactica? Hmmmmmmmm...... I'll have to ask Mikey that one - I truly don't remember.

Frell, it's not like they don't throw everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink at you in every single episode, you know? What an AMAZING show!!!!

So do I, but I think we may be operating on different assumptions ;)

I'm not sure what's up with Lee/Starbuck. In the last episode, I got the impression that he'd finally figured out that he was in love with her... just as Anders got back.

Also, I loved the election fraud at the end, because it makes all of the characters out to be impure in some way - even President Roslin. It would have been easy to have her be the miracle politician who kicked cancer and led everyone to freedom, but the writers had her stumble - I like that :)

Apparently the beginning of season 3 will be exploring life under the Vichy, erm, Baltar government. In the original series, Baltar was a god amongst Cylons iirc so I suspect he might be headed that way eventually. I do hope they explain more about him and Six since obviously they're both in each other's heads in a very strange way.

I love Anders but I agree that domestic!Kara = insanity. I think Anders is a marked man. There's only so much they can do with him being around. Besides, we all know that Lee and Kara belong together (well, I do...).

I think Lee and Kara were starting to fall apart once Anders came on the scene. She was dissing him right, left and center and it was obvious that Lee was hurting a lot over her comments. She doesn't think much of Dee (and who does? Ew...) and I suspect it went on from there. Since Kara is planetside, my own feeling is that they had a huge falling out over her quitting the force and going down to live like a civilian. I think Lee felt betrayed (and rightly so) since Kara's family and she's a pilot. Instead, she decided to get married, get a matching tattoo with Anders and live on a cold mudball. I get the feeling that if there's anything left of Lee/Dee, it's not pretty. And Dee wouldn't even say her name which means there was some big fall out there too. (Of course, being dissed as much as she had been would probably be a good reason...)

I think formerly Caprica Sharon who is now Galactica Sharon is still on board ship which would explain why Helo's there too. I can't see him staying there if she had gone somewhere else or being Adama's right hand man if she'd been spaced.

New episodes are airing in October. They've started shooting now. Rumour has it that they're even going to do them in one long block this year instead of the previously run 10 in the summer, 10 in January. As I said, I'm going to see Jamie at a convention in MD in July. If there are any spoilers/tidbits, I'll happily share.

Looked up JB's bio on the ShoreLeave site - where was he in Band of Brothers? I saw that, and funny, I think I do remember seeing his face under a helmet but for the life of me I can't think of anything particular that his character did!

Give me a holler when you're going to be in town - due to financial/time constraints I suspect I won't be at ShoreLeave, but I'd love to hear about it - especially if there are spoilers!

I just bought a used copy of BoB which I've never seen so as soon as I watch it, I'll let you know. (It's been sent via media mail so I'm hoping it'll be here before August...)

There are so many actors I like in the series and one of the characters (Babe Heffron) is actually a friend's father (unfortunately, I've lost touch with her but we were penpals and friends for a really long time) so I feel like I really should see it.

I'll definitely let you know -- I'm annoyed that Hunt Valley is about an hour from College Park (where my cousins live and run a restaurant) since it would've been a good excuse to see them (and get free food LOL) but the con should be fun. I'd never gone to the con before, even though it's one of the few East Coast Media Cons and has been around for like 25 years. I'll definitely spoil anyone who wants to hear it. Hopefully I can bribe JB with donuts. ;)

You should listen to the Katee Sackhoff interview I linked to today -- it's great. She's really adorable and she talked about her body and people giving her grief about being fat. I thought of your comments immediately.

- Balthar must go!! LOL at 'surrender monkey' he's a total ass
- AMEN to Starbuck needing to cut her hair. It needs to go back to S1 style. Let's be evil together cuz I want Anders to die, die, die! We need Badass!Starbuck back.
- yay Kat/Starbuck!!
- I think Lee resigned himself to the fact he lost Kara to Anders (blech) and was already getting it on with Dee so he stuck with it. I do not like the Lee/Dee thing...She's not a good foil for him.
- Galactica Sharon is prolly still in the special brig since Helo stayed on board.

October can't come soon enough!!

I've got no beef with Dee - she's cute as a little button, but I don't think she challenges Lee the way Starbuck does. I liked her better with Billy - the Dee/Lee thing seemed a writer's afterthought compared to the Dee/Billy thing from the first season.

I am ALL ABOUT Badass!Starbuck - she needs to chop her hair off to get her helmet back on and get out there!

Dee/Billy I could see, they were cutesy like that. But Lee/Dee just gives me hives. Personally I don't see any fire between them. Whereas with Lee/Kara it just explodes off them whenever they were in the same room. Though as S2 went on it became tenser and more strained but still there.

I'm still all about the femmeslashiness of Kat/Kara. God when Kat socked Kara I thought she was gonna take her to the deck and just rip the flight suit off! Pissedoff!sex would have been so hot!

On a side note...I never thought I'd see the day when Starbuck would voluntarily give up her viper..sheesh
