Yay, long weekend! Today was Presidents day.

Also my sister's birthday - she seems to enjoy her gift (Twin Peaks first season) and I am quite pleased - she is very hard to shop for but apparently I was right on target this time.

Cut out the Donna Karan pattern. It is done but I am reminded why I haven't worked with knits in awhile - they always "crawl" when you're cutting them out. This "crawling" may also be why it seems so many of my knit projects always turn out looking kind of shapeless, because its hard as hell to get a sharp seam out of jersey. But anyway - done, machine is greased and ready to go, maybe I'll defy precedent and get a good dress out of this.

Took advantage of having a weekday off and went down to my favorite bead shop. I am really into cobalt blue and gold right now, and that perfect blue is only available in glass, so making clothing in that shade was out of the question. I also have a hematite bead bracelet I got last year that I've been wanting to take apart and remake with metal links rather than breakable elastic.

D. and I went to see "Count of Monte Christo" yesterday - D. had promised that we'd do something together this weekend because he left me a video-game widow last weekend. Good movie - interesting swordplay, though not enough (IMHO). Interesting clothes despite historical discrepancies. A great tale of revenge.

I have realized that I don't write in this journal very often on weekends. I can't figure out whether it is because I'm too busy doing stuff on weekends (which would be a good thing, means I'm out and about) or too busy doing household/necessary things like grocery shopping/cleaning (which would be just depressing, I don't want to spend my days off like that). I certainly end up posting more news snips during the week, if only because I deliberately give myself a news break on weekends.

The (divine, silky, dark, perfect!) chocolate D. gave me for Valentine's is delicious but not packing enough caffiene punch to keep me awake, as I am rapidly becoming rambling and incoherent.

Back to the grind tomorrow, and we have a new person at the office.
