Now THERE's an exception to the usual rule!

I was able to wake myself at 10 am both yesterday and today "at will" (i.e. no alarm needed) - so no more fanatical catching up on sleep during the weekend so well that I can't get to sleep Sunday night!

Fencing doublet: created a fitting sleeve. Or, at least, a fitting left sleeve. Turns out I'm much more uneven than I expected and the doublet body has separate pieces for left and right, front and back are not in any way symmetrical :P Next weekend (because I probably won't get another sizeable chunk of time until then) I'll use the left as a base for creating the right.

Exercise/fencing: at the suggestions of [livejournal.com profile] jlsjlsjls and [livejournal.com profile] kat1392, I attempted more/heavier upper body workout, including: 2 sets of 20 pushups, from toes (the first 20 were ok, the 2nd 20 I had to take a couple of breaks, but completed them), more reps/more different reps with 15lb dumbells each arm (my triceps ache, but nicely), and 2+ hours rapier drills and bouting today. I am pleasantly sore but my arms don't want to fall off, so I'm going to call that progress :)

Homework: you know.. it's kind of restful, in a way (!) Never thought I'd say that, but there's something wonderfully harmonous about an algebraic equation in which one side will always equal the other - you just move the numbers from side to side :) Homework is completed, still waiting on a few answers from classmates in the chatroom.

Reading: Still enjoying The Trainer and Queen Isabella the latter finally getting into the juicy details re: whether she was behind King Edward II's murder or not. Haven't been reading nearly enough, because it's easier to fold clothes to:

Teevee: Watched the extended version of David Lynch's "Dune" - having watched the newer SciFi version I'm reminded how much this one suffered narratively. Still looks incredible, though for this release they COULD have colorized the eyes for continuity's sake :P

Black Books: British series about a misanthropic bookseller. Recommended by my sister and SCREAMINGLY funny! Main character is played by an actor called Dylan Moran who played the uptight boyfriend in "Shaun of the Dead" - this character is a polar opposite :P

Equilibrium: watching on and off while doing homework/housework; I am reminded again how Christian Bale can absolutely vanish into a role.

Dentist in the morning so I should really try and get a (quasi) early night.

It took me forever to realize that was him in Reign of Fire - now you're telling me he's in Velvet Goldmine as well?? That one's been in my Netflix queue for awhile - I'll have to hurry up on it!
