Brief/random, because I don't feel too verbose on my own account for some reason.
I've been keeping up with current events; the significance of Alito's nomination isn't lost on me and I'm distressed to see this news coming out of my home state (among others). Tangentially, I'm still cheered to hear about this coming out of my adopted one...
Been a frustrating week, to tell the truth. The past few day have consisted of: get up, spin wheels at work (doing and redoing work due to technical problems, lots of waiting, ick), get home, eat something, study. The latter has paid off - conquered my first quiz today :)
Another quiz, far more interesting 'cos it's got pretty pictures:
Our phone is back - Verizon accidentally cut a line and several of our neighbors were without for a few days too. Annoying, but again, another reason to be happy about having a cell.
Some posts of interest: Brutal Women about the importance of being able to see yourself in stories, springing off of this essay about the whitewashing of science fiction - specifically of SciFi's Earthsea. I'd never read the series and didn't realize just how much of Le Guin's vision of a multicultural society was lost in SciFi's version - maybe this is (at least partially) why the miniseries sucked?
More sci fi whoo: Dark Crystal finally gets a sequel! I loved that movie as a child, so I'm curious to see what this turns into :)
vree is looking for a "theatrically masochistic" icon. I know my Lexx fan buddies can think of at least one masochistic character who is prone to foot-stapling, but I can't find a cap of same that would be legible at icon-size - anyone, anyone, Bueller? :P
Glargh.. Tired. Headachey. Still a bit stuffy. Can't even summon an exclamation point for emphasis.

Who Should Paint You: Gustav Klimt |
![]() Sensual and gorgeous, you would inspire an enchanting portrait.. With just enough classic appeal to be hung in any museum! |
