hell has frozen over

anotheranonYou know how I was rhapsodizing about how beautiful and clear and warm it's been lately?
Well... not so much anymore. It went from spring to nearly winter overnight (well, maybe closer to 18 hours). Still bright and sunny but cold and windy all day today and very bracing tonight at fencing.
Not sure whether it was the chill or some other strange alignment of planets, but this evening Spice sat in my lap (!). This is jarring because Spice does not do lap - people have cooties, and anyway, she is not That Kind of Girl, the huggy cuddly cat. But she sat there for about 20 minutes getting ear scritches before she settled back on her favorite cushion. I'm still in awe.
Also awesome was D.'s chili. He doesn't make it often, but when he does it's like a one-off masterpiece - a little different each time, but always delicious and filling. This batch has a warm spicyness combined with sugar, like a sweet pepper. Perfect for a cold night like tonight :)
Fencing was very challenging tonight - several people have improved dramatically, in no small part due to the fact that they're fencing more than once a week. I'm considering whether I have the time to do the same myself - both my usual fencing clubs are something of a hike, and I have to eat/sleep/spend time with D. sometime. I found out recently that the building across from my work offers beginning saber lessons, though I need to call a number to find out when. Aforementioned building also has a full fitness center with weight machines at very good rates, another possiblity I've been considering.
So, the debate for the new year - saber, or weights? 'Cos due to time constraints + taking class starting in January I sure as hell can't do both and stick with foil....too much, too much!
Meanwhile, very tired and sweaty/smelly from fencing and it's time to strip off, shower, and cuddle up in a cozy bed :)
