  • Someone moving into our complex had their U-Haul truck outside our place today. U-Haul seems to like putting "locale themes" on their trucks lately; this one was "Roswell NM". D. and I both got a chuckle at the truck with the bright green alien on the side.
  • My neighbors across the way who had the hellacious Xmas decorations are now gearing up for Valentine's Day with red heart/cupid cutouts in every window, on the door, etc. No rows and rows of red lights (so far?). Just as well, with all the luv stuff it would look a bit like a brothel (but maybe our neighborhood needs that kind of shock...)
  • Got the cats some leather scraps at Michaels today. Spice the Fetish Cat is extremely happy (actually, the residual "animal smell" is what attracts her, but the mental images conjured by watching a cat chew and play with leather strips is highly amusing).

Aaaauuuuuuuggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I suppose that it's too big a commercial holiday to just have everyone pretend that it never existed, right?)

Of course! If its a holiday celebrated in America, of course you have to have extensive tacky decorations for it too!

I have a tremendous fear that come March I'm going to see a garden gnome painted green in their yard, with glittering green shamrocks in all the windows, and a wreath of green flashing lights around their weathered flag....
