I actually rather favor the Church of the Mouse and the Disco Ball (http://www.pandagon.net/archives/2005/05/the_church_of_t.html) - it's hard not to like a religion that sanctifies the Beer Run and proclaims that we must all dance to the Ramones :P

But do they have a mantra comparable to the Pastafarians? I have to admit that We believe in abstaining from sexual activity until the mood strikes us or we really, really feel that a mercy fuck is in order, strikes me as the sort of religious belief that can bring a lot of people together.

When I teach Ancient and Classical Literature... I warn the class that this is a Non-Christian class. They get all frowny and puzzled until I explain that all the literature we're reading is pre-Christianity. Then, it's fun having them read all the alternative origins of the world -- Sumerian, Akkadian, Egyptian, Chinese, African... I tell them the only way they're going to really understand the subject is to become a Babylonian when they're reading Babylonian texts. It's so much fun debunking the "But the Bible is the Oldest Book there Is!" crap they're taught in sunday school.
