fall is falling
Sep. 4th, 2001 09:27 amYes, the temperature has dropped RIGHT on time, just after Labor Day to remind us all that fall is on its way. Not that fall is necessarily bad - the slightly cooler temperatures and all of the pretty leaves are a nice change. Its just that its a reminder that winter and the 4-5 months of never being able to warm up are sneaking up on me. I'm even noticing the shorter days already.
Note to self - if the temptation strikes to make anything out of silk dupionni ever again, make sure it doesn't involve button holes. I fought with the machine for 2 hours last night to do 4 button holes in this evil material and I've still got 2 more to go.

Date: 2001-09-04 09:21 am (UTC)If it does, let me know. I've got 3.25 yards of a very pretty purple silk dupionni that I found last night. I bought it about two and a half years ago to have someone make a dress for me out of a 50's pattern, but it was two and a half years ago and these days I need more fabric than that. =/ I'm trying to come up with ideas on what to do with it; maybe a run through Joann's next dollar-pattern day sale is in order.

If you like I can look through "Fabric Savvy" and find out what kinds of styles turn out best when using dupionni. Despite my bitching part of my problem may be an old needle or perhaps just the usual "moodiness" this machine has with button holes.
You can probably get a shirt or mid-length skirt out of 3 1/4 yards, depending on the width.
