Meme snagged from [livejournal.com profile] purejuice via [livejournal.com profile] misia:

Five celebs who are generally considered shagworthy who you wouldn't shag with a 100-meter pole, even if the fate of the free world depended upon it:

It's hard for me to think of any commonly-held-to-be-shaggable celebs that I find truly physically/intellectually repulsive, so I'm going to have to settle for those who simply don't turn my head (of course, that then demands - why just five?). But anyway:

1) Johnny Depp - every other female on the planet wants to get into his pants, but while I think he's an incredible actor, I just don't have any hot sweaty fantasies about him of the type that spawned a thousand Pirates of the Carribean slashfics :P Obviously I am lacking in estrogen or something...

2) Brad Pitt - ditto - not shaken, not stirred. Maybe he's just never played a character that really appealed to me.

3) Gwynneth Paltrow - wears clothes wonderfully, but under the couture she's a bit of a plain Jane, isn't she? Very average face, figure, and in interviews she seems kind of boring personality-wise.

4) Orlando Bloom - oh my, no! But then, young and youthful guys have never been my thing. "he that hath no beard is less than a man... and he that is less than a man, I am not for him" :P

5) Kate Beckinsale - I know I know, she plays a vampire in tight corsets, but I'm still not frothing at the mouth. Rather like Depp in that she's aesthetically pleasing, but I'm not moved.

Agree, disagree, list yer own untouchables or copy in your journal ;)

Afterthought: When I think of it, Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise really are pretty repellent. Not because of anything physical, but because of their weird religious trips. They would definitely have to stay outside of my 100 meter range!

Being a straight male, I am probably not one to be able to judge these kinds of things, but I don't see the appeal of Orlando Bloom... except that he makes for slashfic inspiration also.

For me the lack of interest in Bloom may just be personal preference - IMHO he's sweet and pretty, but there's not a line of character anywhere. Maybe he'll be interesting in 10 years or so.

Nobody on your list does anything for me either (so that's "every other female on the planet" minus one for Mr. Depp). And, as I recall, my first youthful impression upon first seeing Mr. Cruise, long ago, was "the guy is an eyebrow". Honest ... that's all I could see, and just couldn't figure out why everybody else was getting so worked up. Of course I'm the girl who referred to John Travolta as "John Revolting" when I was in in high school and HIS face was on everything ... the man looked to me as if he had terminal pinkeye. :p

Ah me, back in the late seventies, when all the other teenagers were lusting after Mr. Revolting and his contemporaries, I wanted Oliver Reed. ***grin*** Today the closest thing I feel to actor-lust is for Helen Mirren and Robbie Coltrane (this one dates back at least a decade BEFORE Hagrid) and Robson Green and Dawn French. One at a time or all at once. ;-)

:D I thought that he was all nose - forehead to upper lip. I never got the John Travolta thing either - it seems like the late 1970s were all about hairy, neanderthal-ish men wearing polyester and I'm staggered that everyone wasn't celibate!

Re: Helen Mirren and Robbie Coltrane - not setting me off personally, but I can see where they have appeal - both have played characters with depth and nuance, there's someone "in there".

Robson Green - not sure. He's reasonably attractive but seems sort of neurotic. Maybe I've just seen too much "Wire in the Blood".

You've hit the nail right on the head ... for me the "someone in there" ranks far ahead of physical appearance when it comes to attractiveness, although I do love faces with character etched into them (John Thaw would have been on my list too, but I was trying to stick to the living ***grin***). I've yet to see "Wire in the Blood" (although I've own a couple of the books, so I know what the character is like). PBS had a Robson Green explosion in the late nineties, so in the space of one year I got to see him in the very dark police series Touching Evil, the romantic comedies Prince of Hearts and Reckless (plus Reckless: the Sequel), and the comedy/dramedy series Grafters; after that pleasant immersion, I can assure you that there's someone in there. ;-)

Ooooo ... "Reckless" is available on Region 1 DVD ... ***covets***

Gawd yes, personality does count for so much more! A pretty face with nothing behind it is just dull.

We are in generally strong agreement here. Whee!

Oh yeah, I agree. I must be in the female minority, too. (as usual) But.. I do want Johnny to play Nicky when Hades and Gigi goes to the big screen. Johnny can slide from innocent to wicked to hilarious to downright psychotic with a few moves of his facial muscles, and that's what the role needs.

(Now on the other hand, Lisa and Mikey want to shag pretty much everyone on your list. Now we know where the "normals" live, don't we?)*/tongueincheek*

Coulda fooled me about being in the minority re: Johnny :P

That's our Gigi! :)

My #1 choice would be Ashley Judd:
