From the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I didn't take notes, so the descriptions are minimal (numbered for easy reference). Grab 'em while they're hot, because they are huge, even for web!

The detail work they were able to do back then with simple hand tools is amazing. I don't think anything produced now-a-days comes as close.

It IS amazing, isn't it?

Now, I think it still can be done but isn't often. My grandfather got a ceremonial sword as recogniztion for his service in WWII, and it had the same kind of ornate blade decoration as the poleaxes.
