Con: woke up late, another coffeemaker bites the dust, forgot medicine AND purse, irritated D. by having him bring said purse/meds to work for me, constant interruptions.

Pro: conversation with D. when I got home. Replacement of aforementioned chunk of sad plastic with metal percolator, enabling me to get into full Little Old English Lady mode ("shall I just go put the kettle, on, dear?"). Final discovery of two large bags of dark chocolate M&Ms (plain) while picking up percolator.

For me it's not the strength (I don't make coffee at home often, but when I do I'm just as likely to perk decaf beans as the regular stuff) so much as the noticeably richer flavour ... I lost my coffee virginity to a percolator, so drip has always tasted watery to me.

P.S. Hopefully your perk's instructions included the correct grounds-to-water ratio, otherwise you could end up with a cup that stands your hair on end for a several days. :p
