Just got up this morning and I feel fine.

Well, not perfect - in addition to my back I'm recovering from the tail end of a UTI, and it's entirely too early to be up - but last night I was having problems walking and sitting I was in so much pain. This morning - nothing.

I'm not going to look a gift spine in the mouth, but this is really odd.

UTI hit your kidneys. Lower back. On a side. That's a kidney. Say "Yeah Antibiotics"

JUST MHO.

I've considered the possibility, and yeah, I'm taking antibiotics. But kidney doesn't = painful muscle spasms, and given the amount of abuse I heap upon my back I'm just not sure which it is (was?)

How was the opening last night?

Opening was fun. Saw people. Chatted. Saw So in a great dress. The photos are nice--stop by and see them this month.

If your kidneys are swollen or otherwise whacked, all kinds of kooky lower back things can happen.

Genuine and non-trivial muscle *damage* doesn't go away overnight, but if the muscle is just exhausted or glycogen depleted, it will be super weak, and that can readily lead to spasms or cramps, just like after any draining exercise. If it is glycogen, that can be restored somewhat in a couple hours, and even more overnight, if you ate enough carbs. (BTW if you think that's it, take 5-10g of fenugreek with the carbs. There's something in there that increases glycogen resynthesis dramatically.)

I don't know if that's it or not, but that is something that can happen. As long as it's all better now!

But now you can fence tonight, right?

I can, but probably shouldn't. Whether it was the UTI or a muscle pull, I was in enough pain last night to convince me it's probably not a good idea to put myself in a position to get stabbed in the side tonight :(

Maybe all you needed was the total muscle relaxation that comes with sleep. :-)
