Another day that Didn't Come Together:

I decided to use my day off to drop off prescriptions and get the car's oil changed ("Not One Damn Dime Day" took a back-seat to convenience) only to find that I've lost my prescriptions and that the drain knob on my car (the one that lets all the old, dirty oil out) is rusted/frozen shut because I haven't been into Jiffy Lube since August (d'oh!).

So I had to rush home to call my doc before his office closed so he could call in my scripts, and made an appointment with the mechanic to have the knob fixed/replaced Saturday morning (morning!) before my self-defense class with DC IMPACT (found out about and registered very last minute).

The snow is mostly cleared, but there is more scheduled to fall Saturday and Sunday, which might put a crimp in both my social and errand plans (Saturday = grocery shopping + class; Sunday = coffee with friends).

I think it's the car thing that pushed my mood over the edge; right now I'm headachey and irritable and very much looking forward to the turkey stew D. is brewing in the kitchen (turkey flavored tryptophan = yummy + mellowness). I tried to sew but gently put it down before my temper got the better of me, because much as I love my hobbies things tend to go very badly when I'm on edge.

To calm my mind I've been flipping through "The Costumemaker's Art". Though it's nearly 13 years old, most of the costumers profiled are still active in the ICG and I've met quite a few of them at the Costume Cons and Costume College over the past couple of years - it's fun to see what they were doing a decade ago! Impressive stuff, and inspiring - true labors of love!

Tonight is fencing (inauguration may have closed work, but not the piste, by doG!) so maybe I'll work out some of my aggression that way.

Okashii desu. Which is to say, that sounds a little strange. I'd like to hear more about this when you find out more. An oil plug rusting shut (to that level) is pretty unusual, in my experience.

I gather it is a bit strange, or Jiffy Lube wouldn't have referred me to the mechanic next door :P

I'll let you know more, weather permitting...
