sewing/costume aspirations for 2002
Jan. 1st, 2002 08:39 pmI hesitate to say "resolutions"; given fabric availability/time constraints/other external factors I can't guarantee that I'll get any of this done, no matter how much I want to.
Definitely subject to editing/addition in the future.
- Make a sort of "body muslin" to use while fitting patterns (I think one of my books calls it a "body block"). Must be done before I do another tailored jacket.
- Finally work with stretch vinyl and pvc
- Experiment with either a court Tudor or move forward into Elizabethan of any social class. Either way, make a farthingale.
- Make some more shifts - a high necked one and another t-shaped one at least. Hopefully these and a gathered-neckline camica.
- Experiment with pleating on cheapie polyester and see if I can make a budget Fortuny.
- Attend Costume College in the summer. Focus on sci-fi/fantasy costume, pattern drafting, makeup, and oh.. everything.
- Register for Costume Con 2003 before too much longer - liable to sell out, even at this early date.
- Finally make it up to that fabric warehouse in Thurmont MD.
Definitely subject to editing/addition in the future.
