bad behavior
Dec. 26th, 2004 02:02 pmOk, not THAT bad. I gave up on eating healthy for the holidays and still managed to finish
geekchick's baked goodies with a minimum of full-on gorging :P
D. and I had a quiet day yesterday, opening gifts and watching the extended versions of the two last LOTR movies. Again I am reminded what a truly great masterpiece Peter Jackson did here - it's got all the bells and whistles you could want, but nothing gets in the way of the story. It's not a case of "ooh, we've got CGI, let's do oliphants! With pink whiskers! Running up walls!" it's more "we need oliphants, and CGI is the best way to do them. Make it look as seamless as possible."
So, yes - much lying about and eating and calling of family members. I'm not going to give a rundown of giftage and who from, but suffice it to say our friends and family were more generous than we deserve, and we are quite grateful :) I think the cats had the most fun - they had canned catfood and a catnip pad from my sister. They ate, played, and passed out, and all of the above was highly entertaining for their humanpeons companions :)
Much reading over the weekend, as I raided the library Weds. morning before jury duty. Currently I'm alternating between Sarah Waters' "Fingersmith" (YES! Go read. Plot twist o-rama!) and "The Great Influenza" about the 1918 flu pandemic (not far in yet - mostly biographical sketches of the doctors who were active in the treatment. Still interesting though). Linkage on these later when I gather myself up for a What I'm Reading post (new Kage Baker on hold!)
Now, to hit the exercise bike, hard!
